Week 10 and 11

My favourite thing in the training was probably Pinterest.  I was able to find a scavenger hunt list for my 10 year old daughter to use at Easter this year.  It made it that much more exciting!

There are so many options to do so much on the internet. This is what surprised me the most.

I will keep these tools in mind if I am asked to advertise library programs in new ways and can help my children find eBooks and ideas for fun activities.

I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I completed the 23NB program.  It took me out of my comfort zone for sure, which is always good.  There is so much out there to explore and it's exciting and fun to consider what to do next!  Thank you to the team for this experience!

Week 9 - I enjoyed how easy it was to view the books in various categories in Overdrive.  I borrowed both a self-help book and a cookbook and decided a book that you would want to read from cover to cover is easier to ready on a screen than a cookbook.  I downloaded an app called iBooks and quite like the layout of it.  However, I still prefer to get my books free of charge from the Overdrive.

Week 8 - Learned how to use the curation tool Scoop.it and shared a story I scooped on Twitter.  I learned a little about speed-writing in the article, which could be helpful when I take meeting minutes.

Week 7 - I listened to a debate hosted by Jian Ghomeshi on cbc.ca on the evolution of libraries and if they should become community and social hubs. Both sides make excellent points. I think it is a good idea as long as it is done carefully and the main goal of libraries is never forgotten and always kept in the forefront.

Week 7 - Here's to all my librarian friends: hope you enjoy this Ode to Librarians I found on YouTube! :)

Week 5 - Signed up for, and  learned about Pinterest.  I was able to pin something I created onto Pinterest.  There are so many options and you're only limited by your imagination!

Week 3 - I created a list of book(s) I recommend by going to http://vision.bibliocommons.com .  My list only has one book in it at the moment but when I have more time I will be adding to it. It was interesting finding readers with similar interests to follow.  I learned a lot by reading their comments and will be checking out some of their suggestions.  I feel that this tool will also be helpful to me in finding good reads for my children!!

Week 2 - Enjoyed learning about Twitter and seeing how user friendly it is! So much out there to be discovered!
Week 1 - It was very easy to set up my blog account and I was surprised to see other friends and family members were already doing this. I can see how this can be useful tool.
